Historic Journey: The Indo-European Chamber/Youth Orchestra (IEYO) is India’s first Western Classical Music Orchestra to perform in Europe. Our debut concert at the Danube Palace in Budapest, Hungary, on 18th August 2019, was a resounding success. Since 2022, we have been performing in Hungary every year for our Grand Budapest Concert at the Festetics Palace (2022) and Royal Palace of Gödöllő (2023-25), where learned and enthusiastic audiences clapped, hummed along, and applauded us with multiple curtain calls. In 2025, we had our historic 5th anniversary Grand Budapest Concert in Hungary before a packed audience at the Royal Palace of Gödöllő on 7th August.
Our Unique Ensemble: Founded by Indian Conductor and Composer Michael Rupam Makhal and inaugurated at the Autumn Fest Hyderabad in 2018, IEYO is known for its intercultural music repertoire. It offers a finely curated performance blending European traditional classical music from the greats like Mozart, Vivaldi, and Beethoven along with Indian Classical pieces uniquely composed for a Western orchestral structure by Maestro Makhal and the works of Tagore, and Dr. L Subramaniam. At the 5th Grand Budapest Concert in 2025, IEYO performed a symphony for the first time – Beethoven’s Symphony No.1. From this year, IEYO will be performing more serious and deep pieces like Beethoven Symphony No. 2, Bizet’s Suite No. 2 and such world renowned compositions of legendary composers. From 2026, IEYO will be called as Indo-European Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Our Vision: The Indo-European Youth Orchestra (IEYO) was founded with the vision of uniting talented Indian Western Classical musicians from India and across the globe, bringing their artistry to audiences worldwide. More than a performance platform, IEYO serves as an educational journey – offering young musicians exposure to international concert standards, workshops, and mentorship in India and Europe. Each concert becomes a transformative experience, where participants refine their ensemble skills, explore intercultural repertoire, and build lasting friendships across borders. Over the years, IEYO has showcased hardworking and talented young musicians from India alongside citizens of the USA, UK, Australia, South Korea, and Hungary, firmly establishing itself on the global chamber/youth orchestra stage.
Director’s Note: “I believe young musicians thrive when they perform with orchestras. They draw inspiration from their peers and develop a genuine passion for music. Our goal for these concert and workshop projects are to inspire young talents to fall in love with music, perform to the best of their abilities, and gain invaluable exposure and experience from participating in an international concert with young and advanced musicians from around the world, including professionals. We aim to help them become more confident, creative, and well-trained team players.” – Maestro Michael Rupam Makhal
